I recently had the most stunning outdoor Newborn session with Jaclyn, her new bub and beautiful family at a local Brisbane beach. This is a great way to get your Newborn Photos to be different from the rest! I caught myself thinking ‘why don’t I do more outdoor Newborn Sessions’ and by the end of the session ‘wow how on Earth is this toddler not covered in mud yet’.
It was so nice to get outside in the fresh air, take a walk, let the dog off leash and enjoy the sunset. Yep we stared at the sunset for like 3 minutes before taking photos of it. It’s no secret, nature is one of the most inspiring things to me. I absolutely adores seeing printed images with beautiful greenery, rolling hills, creeks, beaches, make their way into my clients’ hands and hung on their walls. You’re probably used to seeing studio/in home Newborn photo sessions. Yes, I’ll admit, my standard offering is to have your Newborn sessions indoors. Maybe you’re keen to be a bit different and a touch adventurous. Here’s a few very compelling reasons for changing things up a little, as well as a few things to keep in mind when considering an outdoor session:
1. Room to Run
For any mamas with toddlers or kiddies in tow, this reason alone may convince you to have an outdoor session! When the little ones are free to explore and have a good time outdoors we can get some really beautiful engagement from them.
2. Fresh Air
Lets face it, You probably haven’t been out and about very much. Of course if you aren’t feeling up to it or had a difficult birth, outdoors may not be for you. But if you’re ready to get the sun on your face and fresh air then this may be your chance! It is good to keep in mind that you don’t wan the air tooooo fresh! If you’re due in and around winter, it may be best to have a cosy-at-home Newborn Session.
3. Divine Landscapes
Lets face it, You probably haven’t been out and about very much. Of course if you aren’t feeling up to it or had a difficult birth, outdoors may not be for you. But if you’re ready to get the sun on your face and fresh air then this may be your chance! Let me work with you to find a location which represents your family. I have a number of beautiful locations around Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast and would love to show you some of my favourite spots.
4. Babies tend to just chill out
When my baby was a Newborn there was one thing I could count on, taking her outside would chill her right out. I don’t know the science behind it but any time she was having a big cry the change of temperature, fresh air (whatever it was) would calm her right down.
5. Changing things up
Not everyone has great lighting in their home. Or is in love with their decor. Or… has the time to tidy when you have a brand new baby on board (new mums, that may be news to you haha). Of course as a photographer I have an eye for the best spots in your home as well as pockets of light to make your photos look beautiful!
And if those reasons don’t yet convince you, take a look at a few more pics from this divine session!
SO, want your Newborn Photos to be different from the rest?
